NELSON, B.C– Nelson Police Association has started a GoFundMe campaign in support of the two officers who were caught in an avalanche north of Kaslo on Monday, leading to the death of Const. Wade Tittemore.
“The love of the backcountry and outdoors brought both Mat and Wade together as friends and was also a main reason for them to choose Nelson as their home,” the association writes.
It was on Monday that the two officers headed out for a backcountry ski trip when the avalanche was triggered, killing Tittemore and severely injuring Mathieu Nolet, who remains in intensive care.

“We are asking you give whatever you can to reach our goal and reduce financial stress for both of these amazing officers and their families in their time of need,” reads the donation request, which has set a goal of $100,000. By Wednesday afternoon it had raised more than $17,000.
