Kootenay Co-operative Radio - Nelson, British Columbia

Prizes will be awarded for: Artist of the Year, Album Of the Year, Single Track of the Year, Best Act Under 18, Best New Artist / Band, Best Rock Act (punk, metal, indie), Best Folk/ Roots/ Blues, Best live DJ, Best Live Producer and Best Festival.

Mp3 submissions can be emailed to with: artist / band / producer, festival name, email address, category, name of single and / or album. Submissions can also be made via this form if you are submitting a soundcloud, youtube, myspace, etc link

Physical copies can be dropped off at the station at 308a Hall Street. Deadline is February 20th.

The panel of judges includes: Lea Belcourt - Artist Director for Starbelly Jam, Steen Hunter - Talent Manager for Shambhala Music Festival, Paul Hinrichs - Director of Bookings and Promotions at The Royal on Baker, Ryan Martin - The Martin Hotel Group and Jay Hannley - Station Manager Kootenay Coop Radio. The judges will create a short list of nominees. Then it's up to everyone to vote for their favourite at kootenayquickshot.com starting on February 25 through to March 25.

Winners will be announced at the KMA’s at The Royal on Baker, Friday March 30. Good luck to all, we are very excited to celebrate the amazing music of the Kootenays!

RCRC 2012

Well it's been two years since the wildly succcessful inaugural Regional Community Radio Conference, and it's time for another one. KCR is currently looking for people who are interested in participating in the organising committee. The commitment will involve attending roughly 6 meetings during the planning stage which will begin in early February and end with the conference on the weekend of April 14, 2012. Lead Co-op Developer: Request for Proposals

This position is to coordinate co-op development activities for a project called “Sounds Co-operative” funded by the Innovative Co-operative Projects Program of the Co-operative Development Initiative, and jointly undertaken by Kootenay Co-op Radio in Nelson, BC, and the National Campus/ Community Radio Association, based in Ottawa. The project aims to provide (formative and existing) campus and community radio stations with assistance to become or transition to co-ops, report on and work with co-operatives in their community, and spread the word about co-op principles and innovative uses of the co-op model.
