Join the dynamic staff team at Kootenay Cooperative Radio (KCR) in beautiful Nelson, BC this summer and learn about broadcast journalism (audio editing, broadcast writing, reporting, and production). KCR is well known for its involvement in the community and the quality and diversity of its programming.
In the course of the 12 week contract (June 5 – Aug 25), you will report on several community events/celebrations and be responsible for organizing a radio day camp for 9-16 year olds (4 separate weeks including 1 week in French), recruiting participants and leading the day-to-day operations of the camp.
Job location: Nelson, British Columbia
Length of assignment: 2017-06-05 to 2017-08-25 (12 weeks at 32 hrs/week)
Hourly wage: $14.65 *
REQUIREMENTS The candidate must:
be bilingual (French and English),
meet the Young Canada Works eligibility criteria, i.e. must be a current high school, college, CEGEP or university student and must be returning to school in the fall, and
have a current First Aid certificate (an asset).
Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
Experience with children and/or teenagers
organized, creative and responsible
