In an age of unprecedented wildfires, extreme weather, and ocean pollution — to name a few — it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the many issues plaguing our environment.
Local Nelson author and biologist Jamie Bastedo may have the antidote. His latest book, Protectors of the Planet, brings the environmental heroes to the foreground. From 7 years old to 97 years old, age makes no difference when it comes to advocating for the environment.
Bastedo told KCR’s Kootenay Morning show, “The central theme is hope.
“Everybody you meet in the book is deeply worried about the future, the hair-raising predictions. But they’re also full of hope. That was kind of my number one selection criteria.”
