Anyone who’s travelled up the Slocan Valley this spring or summer for the first time will have the inevitable destruction done by Mother Nature throughout last summer’s forest fires. The fires did considerable damage to Valhalla Provincial Park, as well as the economies and well-being of communities including Slocan, New Denver and Silverton. Tomorrow and Wednesday, local residents are invited to watch a remarkable new film about the new realities of forest fires and discuss Wildfires, Resiliency, and the future of our Communities. Valley resident Blaine Cook and his friends and family witnessed the fires firsthand. He joins us today.
