Did you know that the Kootenay Co-op Radio station is actually an important location in Nelson’s history? That’s right! Built in the early 1900s, it was first known as the Sing Chong Laundry building. Currently, it is considered to be the only remaining Chinese-Canadian built and owned building left in Nelson’s original Chinatown!

Now, Kootenay Co-op Radio is a Kootenay cultural hub, which broadcasts a wide range of diverse voices from all over the community. We’re grateful for our current location, and we recognize and honour the building’s history as being part of our own.
