Again this year, Mike Wysminity partners with KCR and offer a beautiful 2022.

When you buy a calendar here, 50% of the funds go to Kootenay Co-op Radio.

Mike is a renowned Kootenay artist. Originally from Saskatchewan, he arrived in the Kootenays five years ago and since then he has loved painting our local businesses and landscapes. He likes to paint the beauty that surrounds him “whether it’s a ham sandwich from a local restaurant, or the bridge, or a back alley lit up at night.”

Mike invites you to take a different look at the simple things around us: “Through my art I hope to inspire everybody to just go for a walk, go shopping, talk to your neighbor, go out in your community, look at your neighbor’s garden, make sure to social distance and wear a mask though…but just go out there and talk to each other. Look at the beauty, look at the sunset, the lake…Whether you are looking at graffiti on a dumpster or cheese melted on the edge of a grilled cheese. There is just beauty everywhere”.

Kootenay Co-op Radio is truly grateful that Mike has represented Kootenay Co-op Radio in his 2022 calendar! KCR is housed in a heritage building that was originally the Sing Chong Laundry dating back to the early 1900s. It is the the last remaining building from Nelson’s historic Chinatown. Today this beautiful building now serves as a cultural center for the community and unique space for KCR programmers and volunteers!

Don’t wait any longer to buy his calendar, help support local art and your local radio station, and then go for a walk to watch the sunset!
