There was a close call for a pedestrian on Highway 3A last week, after being hit by a driver in a well-lit crosswalk. While the victim was taken to the hospital with ‘non-life threatening injuries’, Anna Lamb-Yorski of the West Kootenay Cycling Coalition shares how the media’s representation of the incident unintentionally lays blame on the pedestrian.
She shares how this societal concept leaks into the discussion on cycling infrastructure, and gives an update on current projects in Nelson. A hint toward big plans for the Big Orange Bridge is also revealed.
