Backcountry Table: Bringing Together Outdoor Cooking, Adventure and Community in Nelson
Backcountry Table is a new outdoor cooking festival celebrating food, adventure, and community in the heart of the Kootenays.
Join us September 11–13, 2026, at Whitewater Mountain Resort for a weekend of camp cooking demonstrations, hands-on workshops, storytelling, local food and beverages, outdoor education, and mountain-inspired meals. Whether you’re an experienced backcountry chef, a weekend camper, or simply love good food shared outdoors, Backcountry Table offers opportunities to learn, connect, and be inspired.
The inaugural festival features outdoor experts, chefs, anglers, content creators, and local storytellers, alongside live music, craft beverages, and unforgettable long-table dining experiences. Each camper is responsible for their own meals (chefs & skillshares may have samples, but we ask all campers are prepared to feed themselves as skill shares may have samples, but we do not have food trucks).
