kʷu sčaptíkʷlx t sn̓ʕay̓čkstx / Let’s tell Sinixt stories

Čaptíkʷɬ are the literature, law, and scripture of Southern Interior Salish culture, and winter is an important time to share čaptíkʷɬ. Traditionally, in the wintertime, people were gathered together in their permanent homes after a long season of managing and harvesting their root, fish, berry and game resources throughout their territory. The short days and long nights of winter provided opportunity for teaching and entertaining with čaptíkʷɬ, our traditional stories.
Sinixt families from Salish School of Spokane present an evening of Sinixt storytelling at 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Taghum Hall, Nelson. We will share our čaptíkʷɬ, traditional creation and Coyote stories, through both traditional and modern means. Stories will be shared in n̓səl̓xčin̓ (Sinixt Salish) with interpretation to English.
All are welcome with complimentary ticketing.
