LIVE ELECTRONIC MUSIC SHOWCASE

A Family Friendly Afternoon Concert + Dance Party
You might be asking… what is “Live Electronic Music”? Well, simply put, it is electronic music that is performed live. In other words, the performers are not DJing; rather, they utilize a variety of electronic instruments (e.g. synthesizers, sequencers, computers, vocal processors, loopers, etc.) and weave sonic-worlds in real-time, one layer at a time.
This showcase will take you on an epic journey into the world of live electronic music. It’ll start right at 3:50pm with a 10 minute talk giving an overview of live electronic music. Following this, each of the 4 acts (who produce music in completely different genres of music) will do two things. They will: 1) give a 10 minute talk discussing their creative and technical processes, so that attendees have a much deeper insight into how they think about, feel into, and perform their music, and 2) follow that talk with a 40 minute performance.

Jaq Taforo (improvised jazzy beats)
More Like Space (ethereal downtempo)
thisissami (improvised beats & freestyle rap)
Dinosaur Fight (fun rock/pop/electronic fusion)
Delicious food will be available courtesy of Nelson-based Mexican chef Erika Cuevas. She will be serving burritos and soup, with vegetarian and gluten free options available.
Sound will be provided by Live Harmonics from the Slocan Valley, who will be setting up a PK sound system.
Doors open at 3:30pm. Show starts at 3:50pm.
If you know any youth who are into music or technology, forward this their way! This’ll be a great opportunity to be inspired by cool artists working in relatively novel art forms.
