The Fugitives – Capitol Season

February 27 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
$35

“The four part vocals are sensational…each of these Fugitives has the talent, voice and charisma to front their own band.” — Edmonton Sun

Album release Tour: “Everything Frozen Will Flow”

A Canadian folk staple, The Fugitives were formed in 2005 and have released 6 albums. They’ve been nominated for a JUNO, as well as 7 Canadian Folk Music Awards, including Best Vocal Group, Best Ensemble, and Best Songwriter. Having toured heavily across Canada, the UK, and the EU for two decades, they’ve been awarded the Best Folk Album of the Year by the German Music Critics’ Association, performed at Glastonbury, and most major folk festivals across the country. They were a 2020 Globe & Mail “Top Arts Pick of the Year”, and have earned a reputation for unforgettable live shows, brimming with complex harmonies, infectious storytelling and top-notch musicianship.

As the CBC has it: “This show is simply brilliant.” They will be touring in support of their newest album, due in spring 2026.

Opening act: Rena Vee
Rena Vee writes beautiful country music that breaks your heart in two and puts it right back together again. With the vocal styles of a honky tonk angel, familiar and timeless, she delivers a seemingly effortless style of songwriting. From the romance of a night out on the dance floor to the inkling of beauty found amongst tragedy, her lyrics will crack you open while her voice soothes your soul.

This show is made possible thanks to the support of our sponsors Prestige Lakeside Resorts, The Bridge FM, Yum Son Night Owl Hospitality, Nelson District Credit Union, Kootenay Co-op, Bruce and Lisa Ramsay, Ellenwood Homes, Nelson Star and Hall Printing and our funders the BC Arts Council, BC Live Performance Network, Creative BC, Dance West Network, Canadian Heritage, and the Government of Canada. We also gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the City of Nelson and the Province of British Columbia.
