Recurring Event Event Series: The Little Mermaid Jr. Live

The Little Mermaid Jr. Live

July 23 @ 3:00 pm

The classic tale, Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR., is brought to you by Trail & District Arts Council, Triple Threat Experience, and STEPS Dance Centre at The Bailey Theatre on July 23 and 24 for three shows. Based on both the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film, this 60-minute musical, is not to be missed.

The Triple Threat Experience cast contains twenty-five students from Nelson, Castlegar, Salmo, Fruitvale, Trail and Rossland led by Juliana Marko as Director, Lise Levesque as musical director, and Nadine Tremblay as choreographer.

Show Director, Juliana Marko, says “We are so excited to be back on the stage after such a long hiatus!  The kids have been itching to get back to performing and are so excited to show you their end product! They work so hard over the first 3 weeks of the summer learning choreography, lyrics, and blocking – just like a professional show.”

The show contains all the songs from the Academy Award® winning animated feature film, as well as three new songs from the Broadway show. THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she’s the girl with the perfect voice.

Performances of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. are open to the public at The Bailey Theatre on Saturday, July 23 at 3 pm and 7 pm and Sunday July 24 at 3 pm. Admission is $12 for those 12 and under and $15 for adults. There is also a livestream option on Saturday, July 23 at 7 pm for those who cannot get to the theatre. Tickets may be purchased online at thebailey.ca, or by coming into the Box Office at 1501 Cedar Avenue or calling on 250-368-9669 on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from noon until 4 pm. Tickets may also be purchased at the Box Office starting an hour before the show on the day of the performance.

Since 2014 Triple Threat Experience has been teaching youth ages 8-18 the ins and outs of singing, dancing and acting.  They have produced Seussical Jr, Alice in Wonderland Jr, Shrek The Musical Jr, Elf The Musical Jr, Beauty and the Beast Jr and the Lion King Jr.

After a rocky couple of years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, your Triple Threat Instructors Juliana Marko (founder/director), Nadine Tremblay (founder/choreographer), Lise Levesque (musical director) are happy to return to the stage!

Students ages 8-18 gained skills in auditioning, learning choreography, vocal production, learning lines and character work.  These students will make up the chorus in this year’s production.

Students ages 12-18 are the main cast for The Little Mermaid Jr., and developed their singing, dancing and acting skills while experiencing what it is like to be a part of a full-scale musical production.
