On April 6, 2018 — three years ago this week – sixteen people were killed and thirteen injured when a coach bus struck a semi-trailer truck near Armley, Saskatchewan.
Most of those who died or were injured were players from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Humboldt Broncos, from Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
A year later, sports journalist Ryan Rishaug fronted the TSN documentary 29 Forever, which told the story of the Broncos.
Ryan’s a little out of the mostly local-realm Kootenay Morning covers, but there’s in fact a Nelson connection. Retag spoke to Kootenay Mooring about the Humboldt tragedy, his time with TSN covering the Oilers, Olympics and his search for the perfect piece of toast.
