The Mayor of Kaslo says the small village at the north end of Kootenay Lake was snubbed during a recent health care announcement that saw the largest increase of senior health care beds in 15 years slated for delivery in interior British Columbia.
Mayor Suzan Hewitt told KCR News that a previous NDP government promised Kaslo more beds some 20 years ago.
“When the expansion happened 20 years ago the plans were drawn up and there was a promise by the NDP government of the day to add an additional 10 beds,” said Hewitt.
Senior citizens represent nearly a third of Kaslo’s roughly 1000 residents.
