On May 28th, 2022, Kootenay Co-op Radio hosted our first Block Party at Lion's Park in Nelson!

The KCR Block Party was a huge success. On Saturday, May 28th, around one THOUSAND people stopped by, all ready to reunite, celebrate, and rock around the block. If you weren’t out dancing to the magnificent music or exploring the collection of various booths, you were having a blast on the bouncy castle or lining up to try some of the fantastic food offered by lovely local vendors.
Hopefully you also got a chance to stop by Finley’s after the Block Party, to check out the Kootenay Blues Society’s Blues, Brews and BBQ.
It was certainly a day worth remembering. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported Kootenay Co-op Radio and the station.
A special round of applause for all the marvelous musicians who came out on Saturday:
Jazz band LVJ5, Blues trio Hurrie Brown & Walker, Latin musical band The Latin Lovers, …And hybrid electronic group Chimp It! Plus a beautiful dance performance with Fabiola from Orange Bridge Dance.
And a super big thank you to the fabulous food vendors: Simply Siam, Holy Crêpes, and Gina’s Gelato! You really kept the crowds coming!

The Block Party wrapped up the KCR Live! music series, a program which featured over 60 artists over 24 shows! The event also kicked off KCR’s vital annual membership drive. Your memberships and support help us tremendously!
