March marks the celebration of Francophonie across Canada!

Kootenay Co-op Radio is proud to participate in Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie. From March 1st to 31st, immerse yourself in a plethora of fun, interactive, and educational content embarking on a journey through the Francosphere! Explore diverse activities and experiences by visiting rvf.ca.

To celebrate the French language on the radio, Catherine Fisher, former Kootenay Co-op Radio programmer, engaged in conversations with individuals nationwide. Join us as we delve into their stories of navigating different cultures throughout their journeys.

On Fridays throughout March, from 11:30 a.m. to noon, on the airwaves of Kootenay Co-op Radio, you will be able to listen to interviews with individuals from across Canada sharing their knowledge and attachment to different languages, notably French! These interviews are conducted in English by Catherine Fisher, a dedicated volunteer at Kootenay Co-op Radio. Among these individuals, there are local personalities such as Ness Benamran, a member of the Penny Shades group. Born in France, he speaks English, French, Spanish, and Cypriot Greek! Kallee Lins, Executive Director of the West Kootenay Regional Arts Council, shares her love for the French language. KL Kivi, a local activist and author, speaks French, Spanish, and Estonian, their native language. We also have Amélie Sauquet-Davidson, sharing her enthusiasm for passing on a multicultural Francophone life to her child in the heart of the Kootenays.
