Nelson Police have charged a 26-year-old man with aggravated assault following a stabbing on Vernon Street last month.
Inspector Jason Jewkes says the assault appears to be an isolated occurrence, as the offender and victim were known to each other. At this time, he says, there is no risk to the public.
The male victim, who was seriously injured, sustained stab wounds. He has recently been released from hospital and is recovering at home.
26-year-old Taio Cote has been charged with aggravated assault and remains in custody. Cote’s next court appearance is set for July 21.
The altercation occurred in the 100-block of Vernon Street just after 5 p.m. on June 30.
