Ed Zych takes over the radio reigns from outgoing Operation and Programming Manager Rob Andrew

On behalf of KCR Staff and the Board of Directors, please join us in welcoming KCR’s new Operations and Programming Manager, Ed Zych! Ed is a broadcast professional and audio engineer, and draws on years of experience and technical skills to connect with people through media. Throughout Ed’s career, which started in radio at the age of 17, he has tackled a wide array of challenging projects with an impressive roster of clients. Ed’s projects for the music industry have included: Donovan Woods, Billy Talent, Tegan and Sara, Tricky, Stars, The Mad Caddies, Staggered Crossing, Whitehorse, and Honeymoon Suite. He’s has also produced, recorded, edited, and mixed podcasts for Massey Hall/Roy Thompson Hall. Ed did the audio on national advertising campaigns for clients including: The Terry Fox Run, Expedia, RBC, BMW,  Honda, Guinness, Stella Artois, and Tim Hortons. He’s also worked in the live broadcast industry doing audio for Raptors, Blue Jays, and NHL games, along with federal and municipal elections and the Olympics!!

After his three years at KCR — including leading the station through the global pandemic — Rob Andrew has been the CJLY heartbeat.

“I want to say how lucky I feel to have worked with such an amazing group of programmers,” Rob says. “I was constantly impressed with the level of enthusiasm, dedication, and creativity you put into your work at KCR and as ambassadors in the community. I am very proud of what we all have accomplished here, not just during my time but throughout the past 20+ years.”

Rob will stay on as a member and a volunteer programmer and co-host for Friday’s Kootenay Morning shows.
