Nelson Star reporter Bill Metcalfe spoke to Kootenay Morning on August 14 about a recent piece he penned on turbulence currently rocking Sandpoint, Idaho, Nelson’s sister city south of the border.
Much like the rest of the nation, currently dealing with a surge in Coronavirus cases, political instability and protests on race and social justice, the small idyllic town just three hours south of Nelson has not been spared from the same conversations, civil liberty debates and protests that have erupted in the last few months across the United States of America.
“Some young people, some teenagers decided to have a protest in support of Black Lives Matter and they were met with a gang of mostly men carrying semi-automatic rifles,” Metcalfe told KCR News.
