It may seem like a far-off goal, but the draft of how nine communities in the West Kootenay area plan to reach 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050 is here.
On Nov. 4, the West Kootenay EcoSociety’s David Reid joined the Kootenay Morning show to give us some highlights from the draft.
“Local governments and local people have a lot of potential to influence how much carbon pollution we put into the atmosphere, and how effectively we can move toward 100 per cent renewable energy,” David Reid said.
“We’re working with the tools that we have in the place where we live, so that we can make the change that we can make. Part of the vision of this is that we’re helping to create a culture of renewable energy.”
