It has been seven years since the death of Peter DeGroot.
The Slocan man was killed in a stand off with the RCMP in his cabin. The year was 2014.
The ensuring investigation has had all the drama and as-of-yet-unsolved mystery as a TV crime show — including forensic reports that don’t add up. But the truth may soon be revealed. An inquest into De Groot death began this week in the Nelson courthouse. Nelson Star reporter and regular Kootenay Morning guest Bill Metcalfe is with us.
