Drought, fires, development…

We dive into the RDCK’s precedent setting Watershed Governance Initiative.

Streams, rivers, lakes, wetlands, reservoirs. There are more of what professional water watchdogs call “surface water systems” in the Regional District of the Central Kootenay than almost any other part of the province.

The Regional District has just completed a 16-week second phase of a major watershed study. The crew of researchers, called the Watershed Governance Initiative team, is led by Paris Marshall Smith, the RDCK’s Sustainability Planner. Paris takes KCR listeners on a deeper dive into the study and why it is so important.
