Green Home and Energy Show: Spring Expo

The City of Nelson is hosting the eighth Green Home and Energy Show this spring, a free community expo focused on home energy efficiency and clean transportation.

Residents from across the Central Kootenays are invited to attend the Green Home and Energy Show: Spring Expo on Wednesday, April 15, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Nelson Prestige Lakeside Resort, 701 Lakeside Drive. Part of Earth Days programming, this event is free and open to the public.

As the City moves forward with the Nelson Next Climate Plan, reducing emissions from homes and transportation remains a key priority. These sectors are the largest sources of local greenhouse gas emissions, but they also offer significant opportunities to improve affordability, comfort, and resilience for residents. The Green Home and Energy Show helps turn climate goals into practical action by connecting residents with programs, technologies, and local experts who can support energy-saving and low-carbon choices at home.

What’s Happening at the Expo

The Green Home and Energy Show is a two-part event:

Tradeshow style exhibits – local retrofit vendors and organizations focused on clean home energy solutions and transportation, along with a demo zone featuring displays of e-bikes and EVS

Short expert presentations – offering practical information and real-world insights:

• 6:30–6:55 pm – DIY high-performance building envelope demonstration
• 7:00–7:25 pm – EVs Today: rebates, charging, City plans, and EVs for Kootenay driving
• 7:25–7:35 pm – HomeSave program spotlight
• 7:40–8:25 pm – Solar in the Kootenays

The event also marks the launch of HomeSave Central Kootenays, the City’s newly redesigned residential energy retrofit assistance program, which helps homeowners plan and complete energy upgrades that improve comfort, efficiency, and long-term performance.

About HomeSave Central Kootenays

HomeSave is designed to help homeowners understand, plan, and complete energy efficiency upgrades that improve home comfort and reduce energy use. The program is available to homeowners and renters across all Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) communities, including all municipal and rural areas.

HomeSave provides customized support by:

• Offering trusted guidance to help residents understand their home’s energy performance
•  Supporting access to EnerGuide home energy evaluations
• Helping residents identify and stack all eligible federal, provincial, utility, and local rebates and incentives
• Providing a performance based HomeSave retrofit rebate that rewards verified whole-home energy improvements
• Offering optional retrofit financing to help reduce upfront cost barriers

Everyone is welcome to attend the Green Home and Energy Show: Spring Expo. Doors open at 6pm, drop in any time during the event for free up until 9pm.
