Nelson and District Women’s Centre AGM

The Nelson & District Women’s Centre is a feminist organization that has been celebrating, supporting and empowering Kootenay women since 1973. The Centre believes that advancing gender equality helps to build a healthy community for everyone.
The Women’s Centre provides safe space, support, free resources, referrals and engagement opportunities for all women and gender diverse individuals. In particular, the Drop-In and Referral program provides a safe and supportive environment. Other events, celebrations and programs are often open to the community.

It’s time to get ready for our Annual General Meeting!

The AGM is scheduled for September 28, 2023 at 6:30pm. The meeting will be held in person at the Nelson & District Youth Centre. There will be an option to join the meeting via Zoom to alleviate any barriers but we highly recommend coming in person.

To attend the AGM you will need to purchase a West Kootenay Women’s Association Membership (either in advance through Canada helps or with cash before the meeting begins). Memberships are sold on a sliding scale from $15-50. Memberships are annual, so they need to be purchased each year before the AGM. If you are not sure about the status of your membership, please reach out to confirm.

Registration is required in advance by emailing AGM@nelsonwomenscentre.com. The Agenda Package will be sent out to everyone that registers 2 weeks in advance for your review. If you would like to attend via Zoom please include this request in your email.

We are taking nominations for our Board of Directors for the next two weeks! If you are interested in applying to be a director please email AGM@nelsonwomenscentre.com. Your application will be included in the Agenda Package and then voted on by the membership.

At the meeting, there will be basic refreshments, a light snack, and door prizes!
