Sinixt Rattle Making Workshop

Coordinating Collective member Suzzannee will be hosting a Sinixt Rattle Making workshop on Wednesday July 27 2022 from 11:00am – 4:00pm here at our Centre, located at 420 Mill Street. This workshop is offered for all women of Indigenous culture or those interested in learning and supporting Indigenous knowledge.
This was a teaching given by late Sinixt Elder Mildred Smith which will be imparted. She is pictured in the photo above.

Maximum capacity for this workshop is 10 participants, so please don’t put off registering! Cost to register is $25.00, which can be paid in cash or via e-transfer to ed@nelsonwomanscentre.com
Materials you will need: A bagged lunch (this workshop is planned to be 5 hours in duration!); feathers, crystals, leathers, and any adornments for your handle; sand (1/4 Cup) and small rocks, beans, or beads for the interior of rattle; strong needle for sewing.
