Winter Wildlands Backcountry Film Festival

Avalanche Awareness Beyond the Boundaries Society (AABBS) is a nonprofit formed to provide free and discounted Avalanche Skills Training to youth between the ages of 13 and 18 in the Kootenay area. Our mission statement is to raise awareness and educate youth in decision making about backcountry travel and avalanche safety. Since our founding in the spring of 2009 AABBS has provided free and discounted AST courses following Avalanche Canada curriculum to over 500 Nelson and area youth between the ages of 13 and 18 since 2010.
In order to support our work we have partnered with the Winter Wildlands Alliance to host the Backcountry Film Festival. This event celebrates the spirit of human-powered adventure — through stories that connect us to wild places, to each other, and to the movement to keep winter wild. Join us on November 13th to enjoy a selection of great films, prizes, and community!
