Mary Liv Live at Nelson Legion

Get ready to vibe with Mary Liv and enjoy a chill, fun-filled hangout you won’t want to miss!

Come on out to The Nelson Legion on May 16th at 6pm to see Mary Liv!

From your 1996 Ford Ranger to the old love letters your ex hid, there are stories that need to be told. Independent, femme folk singer Mary Liv based out of Saskatoon creates relatable songs from real life.

Her song, “In The Ground”, won the SOCAN Young Canadian Songwriter Award (2025). Inspired by the song-writing of artists such as Roger Miller and Abigail Lapell, Liv sings a blend of high-energy country songs as well as more femme-folk, protest songs. As a multi-instrumentalist with deep roots in Canadian fiddle and country music, Liv draws melodies and phrasing from her roots. She has released a traditional fiddle album, Fiddlin Around (2024) as well as an all originals album, Hello There (2025).

Touring around the Canadian prairies for the past two years, Liv has played at venues such as The Bassment (SK) as well as festivals such as Ness Creek Music Festival (SK). “Whether I’m singing to coffee shop crowds or to music festival audiences, my music is intended to get everyone dancing,” says Liv.

Luke Wallace - Live At The Langham

Luke Wallace brings his politically charged, heart-forward folk songs to The Langham on Friday, April 25, for an intimate evening of music, stories, and community. Drawing on a decade of touring from the Vancouver and beyond, Luke’s songs trace the front lines of climate justice, social movements, and everyday hope, inviting audiences to sing along and imagine a better world together.
Luke has performed hundreds of concerts across North America, from major folk festivals to the 2023 United Nations Water Conference,
using his music as a rallying cry for people and the planet. His latest album, The Dandelion Resistance, continues this work with memorable choruses and stories that linger long after the last note.

Radio Free Kaslo, February 21, 2025

A big shout out to the Donald Trump regime for encouraging me to ensure that from here on in, ALL musical programming on Radio Free Kaslo will be curated according to the following criteria:

1. When humanly possible (this is an AI-free show), make it Canadian!

2. If not, anything but American, thanks very much.

I do this regretfully — the USA is of course full of amazing musicians, not all of whom support in any way their current government's actions — in fact I suspect most don't.

Until things change, c'est la vie. My SOCAN ratings are going to go through the roof!

The main upside (for me, at least) is that I am already discovering homegrown talent I either hadn't heard or played in a long while, or, even worse, had no clue existed. I'm delighted to bring them to your attention. Today's playlist includes songs by:

— Juno Award-winner Sarah Harmer

— Nova Scotia's Joel Plaskett

— Guelph, Ontario's Constantines

— Montreal's Stars

— Winnipeg's The Weakerthans

— Halifax's Thrush Hermit

Today, world-class, all-Canadian indie pop. Next week? Stay tuned!

Enjoy, 'eh!
