The Zoo Story
Exact Resemblance’s latest production of The Zoo Story gives Edward Albee’s 1959 classic a sharp, contemporary twist, proving that awkward conversations, social discomfort, and human absurdity never go out of style.
A dark comedy that sneaks up on you, The Zoo Story begins as a polite (and slightly strange) chat between two men sharing a park bench. What follows is funny, tense, and increasingly unpredictable. As the laughs pile up, so does the unease. Beneath the humour lies a biting commentary on loneliness, class, privilege, and the invisible walls we build around ourselves made even more resonant in a world shaped by the pandemic and growing social divides.
Directed by Cristiana Ripeanu, the production leans into the play’s wicked wit and razor-sharp dialogue, keeping audiences entertained while steadily pulling them toward uncomfortable truths.
