Mellow Film Tour Coming to Nelson’s Royal on April 9
Climbing film night brings world-premiere films and one of the sport’s most influential new media brands to the Kootenays
NELSON, BC—The Mellow Film Tour is coming to Nelson on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Royal, bringing an evening of climbing films, storytelling, and big-screen adventure to local audiences.
The 2026 Mellow Film Tour is Mellow’s inaugural tour and features four world premiere films that spotlight some of the most compelling athletes and ascents in climbing today, including:
“Drifter’s Escape”
Connor Herson establishes Drifter’s Escape on the Stawamus Chief in Squamish, British Columbia—the world’s first 5.15a trad route.
“Excalibur; A Pursuit in Process”
Brooke Raboutou climbs Excalibur, a notoriously steep 5.15c sport route in Italy, and makes history by becoming the first woman to send the grade.
“A Not So Mellow Adventure”
Two of the world’s top alpinists—Jackson Marvell and Matt Cornell—take climbers Shawn Raboutou and Nathaniel Coleman on an unforgettable Alaskan epic.
“Duality of Man”
Sean Bailey makes the first ascent of Duality of Man, a 100-foot cave route near Tucson, Arizona, believed to be North America’s first 5.15d.
Mellow is a climber-run media brand based in Boulder, Colorado, known for films, videos, and storytelling that have helped shape contemporary climbing culture.
The inaugural Mellow Film Tour is being brought to Nelson by the Kootenay Climbing Association, the non-profit behind the Cube Climbing Centre. Ticket sale proceeds will go toward building the Cube 2.0, the first Olympic-standard climbing gym in the B.C. Interior.
